Home-Ownership Level Falls to 67.3%
BY SARA MURRAY AND JEFF BATER
The percentage of Americans who owned their homes
fell at the end of 2009 to the lowest point in nearly a decade, a reflection of
continuing troubles in the housing market even as the sector showed signs of
stabilizing. In one upbeat sign, an index of pending sales of previously
owned homes increased 1.0% to 96.6 in December, the National Association of
Realtors said Tuesday, suggesting the housing market is steadying after sharp
swings caused by the uncertain fate of a government tax credit.
Yet home ownership is sliding. Some 67.3% of Americans owned their homes in the fourth quarter ..."
The Problem is No One Owns Anything Anymore!
Rent a house or an apartment, lease a car, buy on credit or layaway and we all know one only rents a Taco Bell meal. It is a big house of cards ready to fall at any time. The economy will stabilize if Americans become owners and savers. Prices have inflated artificially to reach the jagged edge of the maximum limit. "Just say no" to high prices and low wages.
Hardworking People Need an Opportunity
Valuable people's contributions are marginalized and annual wage increases are decreased or altogether eliminated. Financial bigwigs fail and get bonuses. Hardworking people get it in the chops.
Credit Cards
Credit card balances are subject to high fees for industry-manufactured penalties subject to outrageous fees, even higher than the lone shark-like interest rates. Injustice will not be tolerated.
If our current representation in government does not take the bull by the horns then vote them out. Get someone in with the gumption to stand up to the lobbyists and the business-as-usual bureaucrats and "git'er done." Shoot the contractors and firefighters are unemployed anyway. They deserve good jobs, not the do-nothing gang.
Income Imbalance
The top management makes grotesque salaries while the employees who actually do the work eeks by. This is wrong and it will change, if not tomorrow or the next day then soon. The economy is the bearer of the message will the unholy duo of top management and bureaucrats get the message? Let's "git'er done."
- Currently, it is a 3 year wait to get into any public housing or assistance. The problem is threefold.
- Profound scarcity of public housing or assistance. Call made 2/2/10 to Idaho Finance and Housing, Coeur d'Alene, ID.
- Affordability apartments are overpriced and inadequately insulated.
- Attainability: Many renters have paid for years rent faithfully yet, are repeatedly told by Dept. of Ag., Rural housing, and IFH that they do not qualify for down payment assistance or any other help.
Home-Ownership Benefits Everyone
The point is, by making home ownership attainable that will also free up assisted rentals and public housing and the market price for rentals will adjust to a fair level.
