Placemaking Promotes a Sense of Community.

This concept drawing using SketchUp gives an instant identity to the neighborhood park with a quick 10-minute napkin sketch. This quick sketch is inspired by the National Monument, The Gateway Arch by Eero Saarinen in St. Louis. The Gateway Arch celebrates the westward expansion of the US.

Landmarks can be on a monumental scale or a city park.

This more humble version of the Arch brings joy to an afternoon spent playing. The scene of kids buzzing around a playground is vital to the community. The growth and development of young children is a key factor to creating a great space. This is the idea behind what urban planing calls placemaking. Placemaking creates something that belongs to us and we intern belong there as well.
